Welcome. I’m happy you’re here.
My name is Débora Coelho Riber (she/her/hers). I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) in Washington State, National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Child Mental Health Specialist (CMHS) .
I hold a Master's degree in School Counseling from Western Washington University and am currently a 2026 Fellow with the UC Davis & Napa Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than twenty years working in education and public health, supporting children, families, and communities across diverse cultural settings.
My work integrates neuroscience, attachment, Humanistic and Existential therapies, psychodynamic and family systems perspectives, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Parent-Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health principles. I continue to expand my practice through ongoing education and consultation while honoring both current research and the cultural wisdom that has shaped my own life.
For the past twenty years, my career has taken me through diverse industries and unexpected roles, but every single one of them taught me the same truth: we heal, grow, and thrive through human connection.
My path to relational health counseling hasn’t been linear, and because of that, my approach to therapy is not rigid.
I bring a lifetime of experiences into a heart-centered space where I strive to meet people where they are.
My vision is to co-create therapeutic moments that are accessible, culturally responsive, and grounded in curiosity and compassion.
I’m a Brazilian-American raised across five continents, a daughter, twin, sister, wife, mother, counselor, advocate, learner, educator. I have two kids who have profoundly changed my life. My first child taught me how to be a mother, to be calm, to have patience. My second taught me to accept help, to be a partner. He was born premature. Powerless, I had to allow my community to help me- The other NICU parents, the medical staff, my family and friends.
I come to this work with a genuine desire to be a force for good in my community and beyond, to help as I was helped when I needed it.
My Twin lives all the way in Australia. We write essays back and forth. You can read some of them here.
The first essay is her reflection on my prompt ‘What is a twin if not a reflection of their counterpart?’
The second is my reflection.
